WHO WE ARE OUR PROGRAMS :

Hilltop Health Ministries Consortium is a faith-based ecumenical consortium comprised of pastors and volunteers from six religious congregations in several South Pittsburgh neighborhoods, including: Allentown, Arlington, Arlington Heights, Beltzhoover, Carrick, Knoxville, Mt. Washington, Mount Oliver, and St. Clair Village.

Vision Statement:

By 2010, Hilltop Health Ministries Consortium will be the premier model of faith communities collaborating to improve the health of their community.

Young Adult Outreach: Joanna Deming, MSW*

  • Pampering Day: A semi-annual event, where pregnant and parenting mothers ages 14-22 are provided with complimentary haircuts, styles, a healthy meal, free childcare, and an informational session focusing on stress management

  • Parenting in Our Community: A project in collaboration with the South Pittsburgh Partners for Kids. A local resource guide for families with small children on the Hilltop. Copies are available for community groups and individuals.

  • Teen Girl Squad: A leadership development program for teen girls 12-18, which is centered on serving the community - Meets bi-weekly at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 731 Excelsior Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15210

  • Teen Girl Squad Walks: Health education and fitness program for teen girls 12-18. Meets bi-weekly at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 731 Excelsior Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15210

  • Teen Women And Violence Dialogue Project: A project in collaboration with the South Pittsburgh Coalition for Peace, which focuses on the relationship between teen girls (12-18) and violence.

Health Ministry Teams*

  • Churches located on the South Hilltop are provided with the resources and training necessary to implement health education programming at their churches
  • Currently, four hilltop congregations are participating, including:
    1. St. Paul A.M.E.
    2. Beuluh Baptist
    3. Potter's House Ministries
    4. Lighthouse Cathedral
